Christian Egartner (born May 13, 1964 in Sterzing ) is a South Tyrolean politician .

biography

The trained car mechanic works as a building contractor. In 1990 he became politically active as a local youth officer of the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) in Gossensaß / Ausserpflersch , and from 1993 to 2009 he was chairman of the SVP local association. From 1995 to 2008 he was mayor of the community of Brenner . From 2006 Egartner was SVP district chairman of the district community Wipptal .

In 2008 he was elected to the South Tyrolean state parliament and at the same time to the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol . In the state parliament he acted as chairman of the III. Legislative Commission. On July 14, 2010, the court of cassation in Rome ruled that Egartner was ineligible as the legal representative of the Conbau GmbH consortium at the time of the election and therefore had to leave the state parliament. On July 21, Julia Unterberger succeeded him .

On January 26, 2015, Egartner was sentenced in the first instance to two and a half years in prison for deceiving an insane person, but on October 8 of the same year the verdict was overturned due to a procedural error. In September 2016, the proceedings were discontinued due to the statute of limitations.
