Wipptal (district community)

The district community Wipptal ( Italian Comunità comprensoriale Alta Valle Isarco ) is an amalgamation of six communities in the South Tyrolean part of the Wipptal and its side valleys in Italy . In 1980 it was separated from the Eisacktal district community . As the smallest of the eight district communities in South Tyrol (in terms of community and population numbers) , it covers an area of ​​650 km² with around 20,000 inhabitants (as of 2014). The main town and seat of the administration is Sterzing.

The municipalities of the district community are: Brenner , Franzensfeste , Freienfeld , Pfitsch , Ratschings and Sterzing .
