Christian Eggenberger (born November 26, 1894 in Grabs ; † May 30, 1967 there , reformed , entitled to live in Grabs) was a Swiss politician (LdU) .

biography

Christian Eggenberger was born on November 26th, 1894 in Grabs as the son of the farmer Andreas Eggenberger. The graduate of the agricultural schools in Sargans and Rheineck subsequently ran an agricultural business in Grabs. In addition, he acted as a co-founder and board member of the historical-local history association of the Werdenberg district . He also devoted himself to the restoration of Hohensax Castle , among other things .

Christian Eggenberger was married to Marie, the daughter of the graver Kaspar Gantenbein. He died on May 30, 1967, six months after he was 72 years old in Grabs.

Political career

Christian Eggenberger, member of the national ring of the independent, held his first political office from 1927 to 1944 as Mayor of Grabs. Immediately afterwards he headed the Werdenberg district as Ammann until 1954. In addition, he represented his party from 1936 to 1951 in the St. Gallen Grand Council . In 1946 he was elected to the National Council . Shortly before the National Council elections in 1951, Christian Eggenberger resigned from the party after disagreements with Gottlieb Duttweiler regarding agricultural policy and general policy; at the same time he waived a re-candidacy.
