Christian Etzdorf
Johann Christian Michel Etzdorf (also Ezdorf ; born February 28, 1801 in Pößneck , Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen , † December 18, 1851 in Munich ) was a German landscape painter .
Life
Etzdorf studied landscape painting at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. There he was particularly interested in the nearby Alpine region , which he painted based on the models of the Dutch landscape painters Allaert van Everdingen and Jacob van Ruisdael . In 1824 he traveled to Scandinavia with a letter of recommendation from the Norwegian landscape painter Johan Christian Dahl . He visited Norway , the North Cape , Sweden , Iceland . He also traveled to England .
