Christian Fridrich

Christian Fridrich (* 1966 in Vienna ) is an Austrian didactic specialist in geographic and socio-economic education and an author . He is a university professor ( University of Education Vienna ) and a lecturer at the University of Graz and the University of Vienna .

Life

After graduating from the BGBRG Vienna XI, Christian Fridrich completed the teaching degree for secondary schools at the Federal Pedagogical Academy in Vienna (among others with Wolfgang Sitte ) and the teaching degree for secondary schools at the Institute for Geography of the University of Vienna and completed both studies with the respective teaching qualification ( Hauptschule / New Middle School and AHS ). At the Institute for Geography at the University of Vienna, he wrote his didactic diploma thesis entitled "Project teaching and the subject of geography and economics in secondary levels I and II. Theoretical principles, materials and suggestions for project work" (with Helmut Wohlschlägl ) as well as his technical, socio-geographically oriented dissertation “Constitution, reproduction and fragmentation of social realities in the Austrian-Slovak border area” (with Norbert Weixlbaumer and Peter Weichhart ).

After the two teaching qualifications, Christian Fridrich taught from 1988 to 1997 at Viennese secondary schools and AHS, a. a. at the school practice center. In 1995 he began teaching at the Federal Education Academy in Vienna. Since 1997 he has been a university professor (PH 1) at the University of Education in Vienna (or at its predecessor institution), where he heads the department of geographic and socio-economic education and is also a research coordinator. In addition, he is a lecturer for didactics of geography and economics at the Institute for Geography and Spatial Research at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz and at the Institute for Geography and Regional Research at the University of Vienna .

Christian Fridrich is a consultant and co-author of the two series of textbooks “on the go” and “global” as well as the “ÖBV - Freytag & Berndt School Atlas” and consultant for the work “ Austrian Dictionary ” (all: Austrian Federal Publishing House ). Since 2009, Fridrich has been a founding member and co-editor of the “Research Perspectives” series on educational research at Lit Verlag, as well as co-editor of the didactic journal series “ GW-Lehr ” and chairman of the “Association for Geographic and Economic Education”. At the Austrian Museum of Social and Economic Education he is co-designer and curator of the permanent exhibition "Otto Neurath - Talking Signs", where he designs the series "The Electronic Business ABC (Series A)" to promote general economic education for young people. Furthermore, he is a co-founder and advisory board member of the symposium series "Consumption rethinking", head of the 2016 newly founded "Section for Geographical and Socio-Economic Education" (GESÖB) of the Austrian Geographical Society and a founding member of the Society for Socio-Economic Education and Science (GSÖBW ).

In addition, Christian Fridrich leads research and development projects, e.g. B. with the Jubilee Fund ( Oesterreichische Nationalbank ), for the Federal Ministry of Education and the Federal Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection , for the Austrian Society and Economic Museum , within the framework of EU university cooperation Comenius 2.1 and 3.1, with "Sparkling Science" ( Federal Ministry for science, research and economy ), for the chamber for workers and employees etc. He is the initiator, co-founder and co-editor of two scientific series at the Springer VS publishing house .
