Christian Friedrich Fritzsche

Christian Friedrich Fritzsche (born August 17, 1776 in Naundorf near Zeitz ; † October 29, 1850 in Zurich ) was a German Protestant theologian and son of pastor Johann Andreas Fritzsche (1727-1804).

Life

After attending the Latin school from 1789 and the orphanage in Halle (Saale) , Christian Friedrich Fritzsche studied theology in Leipzig from 1792 . From 1799 he was pastor in Steinbach and Lauterbach near Borna and in 1809 became castle preacher and superintendent in Dobrilugk , in 1827 professor and D. theol. in Halle (Saale) . He is considered a forerunner of strictly historical-philological biblical interpretation and wrote the Fritzschiorum opuscula academica (1838) with his sons Karl Friedrich August and Otto Fridolin Fritzsche . He died with his son Otto Fridolin Fritzsche in Zurich . His son Franz Volkmar Fritzsche is a well-known classical philologist.
