Franz Volkmar Fritzsche
Franz Volkmar Fritzsche (born January 26, 1806 in Steinbach near Borna , † March 17, 1887 in Rostock ) was a German classical philologist . He was the son of Christian Friedrich Fritzsche (1776–1850).
Life
He grew up in Dobrilugk and attended grammar school in Luckau . From 1824 he was a collaborator at the Thomas School and at the same time a private lecturer at the University of Leipzig , receiving his doctorate and habilitation in 1825 . In 1828 Franz Volkmar Fritzsche was appointed professor of poetry and eloquence at the University of Rostock , where he founded a seminar for classical philology, which he led until 1882 . Like his father, his brothers Otto Fridolin and Karl Friedrich August Fritzsche were theologians . Fritz Reuter mentions him in the introductory chapter to "Olle Kamellen VII: De meckelnbörgschen Montecchi un Capuletti or De Reis' near Constantinople" (1868).
