Christiane Reitz
Christiane Reitz (born November 15, 1953 in Paris ) is a German classical philologist .
She studied Classical Philology and Comparative Linguistics at the Universities of Bonn and Heidelberg . After completing her doctorate in Heidelberg with the dissertation Die Nekyia in den Punica des Silius Italicus , she worked as a research assistant at the University of Mannheim , after her habilitation in 1996 ( On the equivalence technique of Apollonios of Rhodos . Frankfurt am Main, Studies in Classical Philology 99) as a university lecturer . From 1999 to 2019 she was a full professor of classical philology at the University of Rostock , where she held the chair for Latin studies .
Reitz is co-editor of the Subsidia Classica , Itinera Classica , Litora Classica and Hypomnemata series . She has been a member of the Faculty Council, the Council and the Senate of the University of Rostock several times. From 2001 to 2007 she was Director of the Heinrich Schliemann Institute for Classical Studies and from 2004 to 2014 Liaison Lecturer of the German National Academic Foundation . She is the recipient of the state teaching award of the state of Baden-Württemberg (1997) and the sponsorship award for teaching of the University of Rostock (2007, together with Lorenz Winkler-Horaček).
From 2007 to 2009 Christiane Reitz was the first chairwoman of the Mommsen Society . She is also a member of the selection committee of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (since 2009) and the Tenure Board of Leibniz Universität Hannover (since 2016). From 2014 to 2019 she was Vice President of FIEC .
Her fields of work include the Roman and Greek epics, the history of transmission of ancient literature, especially library history and humanistic scholarship.
