Otto Fridolin Fritzsche

Otto Fridolin Fritzsche (born September 23, 1812 in Dobrilugk ; † March 9, 1896 in Zurich ) was a German Protestant theologian and the youngest son of Christian Friedrich Fritzsche (1776–1850).

After attending grammar school in Halle (Saale) and studying since 1831, Fritzsche completed his habilitation in 1836. In 1837 he followed a call to Zurich , where he held the title of full professor of theology from 1842, but was only promoted in 1860. From 1844 until his death, he also worked as senior librarian at the Cantonal Library of Zurich . In 1866/67 he was rector . In Zurich he edited the Fritzschiorum opuscula academica (1838) with his father and brother .

His field of work and research was Bible exegesis and church history.
