Karl Friedrich August Fritzsche

Karl Friedrich August Fritzsche (born December 16, 1801 in Steinbach ; † December 6, 1846 in Gießen ) was a German Protestant theologian and eldest son of Christian Friedrich Fritzsche (1776–1850).

Life

His father Christian Friedrich Fritzsche was a pastor in Steinbach near Borna . After attending the Thomas School in Leipzig from 1814 to 1820, Fritzsche studied theology at the University of Leipzig from 1820 . In 1823 he earned his master's degree and was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD .

1826 Fritzsche was a professor of theology at the University of Rostock habilitation . He applied the grammatical and philological methods of his teacher, the philologist Johann Gottfried Jakob Hermann, to the New Testament . Together with his brother Otto Fridolin Fritzsche and his father, he edited the Fritzschiorum opuscula academica (1838). From 1841 to 1846 Fritzsche worked as full professor for theology at the University of Giessen .
