Christian Friedrich Penzel
Christian Friedrich Penzel (born November 25, 1737 in Oelsnitz / Vogtl. , † March 14, 1801 in Merseburg ) was a German cantor and composer .
Life
Penzel learned from Cantor Johann Georg Nacke in Oelsnitz and from 1749 at the Thomas School in Leipzig . He was possibly one of the last students of Bach .
After school, he enrolled in 1756 at the University of Leipzig , where he remained until 1761 jurisprudence studied. In 1765 he succeeded A. F. Graun as cantor at the town church in Merseburg, at the same time as castle and cathedral cantor and teacher at the cathedral high school.
