biography

In the winter of 1975/76, Hemmi was mainly used in the European Cup and achieved third place in both the overall ranking and the giant slalom ranking. He won his first points in a World Cup race on December 10, 1976 when he finished ninth in the giant slalom in Val-d'Isère . Three weeks later, on January 2nd, 1977, he finished second behind his brother in Ebnat-Kappel . He was also second on March 6, 1977 in Sun Valley behind Ingemar Stenmark . There was also a third place on March 25, 1977 in the Sierra Nevada .

As a result, Hemmi could not quite maintain this level of performance. Almost the entire 1977/78 season he remained without a countable result. Towards the end of the season, only a fifth place resulted, whereupon he announced his retirement from top-class sport.

Hemmi is a trained locksmith and runs a metal construction company on Lenzerheide .
