Christian Krieger (born January 12, 1964 ) is a French Reformed theologian. He has been President of the Reformed Church of Alsace and Lorraine (EPRAL) since 2012, and President of the Conference of European Churches (CEC) since June 2018 .

Life

Krieger grew up in a Lutheran family in the Pays de Hanau . After graduating from high school in Buchsweiler , he began studying at the mission seminar in Hermannsburg in 1983 . He then went on to study theology at the University of Strasbourg in 1989 with a Master of Theology . He then worked as a teacher in Strasbourg and took part in the edition of Martin Bucer's letters led by Matthieu Arnold and in other edition projects .

After the Vicariate in the municipality of Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune in Strasbourg in 1994/95 he was in the fall of 1995 ordained and took a pastorate at the Église du Bouclier réformée in Strasbourg. He held this position until 2012, when he was elected President of the Synodal Council of the Reformed Church of Alsace and Lorraine (EPRAL) and - related to this - Vice-President of the Union of Protestant Churches of Alsace and Lorraine (UEPAL). He was re-elected in June 2018.

Together with Valérie Duval Poujol, he wrote a study for the FPF aimed at overcoming the tensions that had arisen between the classical Protestant and evangelicals on the question of blessing same-sex couples . The FPF's declaration on the relationship to Judaism “Cette mémoire qui engage” on the occasion of the Reformation anniversary in 2017 was also written by him.

On June 4, 2018, he was elected President of the Conference of European Churches (CEC) in Novi Sad (of which he had been a governing board since 2013). His term of office runs until the next CEC general assembly in 2023.
