Christian Ludwig von Reissig

Christian Ludwig Reissig , later of Reissig , even Reißig and Reiszig (* 24. July 1784 in Kassel , † 5. November 1847 in Stein am Anger , Hungary ) was a German poet of romance . His poems can be found in song compositions by the composers Ludwig van Beethoven , Franz Schubert , Antonio Salieri and Anton Diabelli.

Life

He was born as the son of the knife and instrument maker Christian Reissig in Kassel. He was baptized in the name of Tileman Christian Ludwig Reissig between July 24th and August 3rd, 1784. He entered the service of the Imperial Austrian Army (1808) and fought against Napoleon in the Wars of Liberation as an Imperial and Royal Rittmeister and first lieutenant . In the course of his service he was raised to the nobility.

He was honored for his bravery in the Battle of Essling on May 22, 1809, in which he was seriously wounded.

Christian Ludwig von Reissig married Maria Carolina Barbara von Bernrath on March 24, 1815; The son Alois von Reissig (born May 22, 1822) came from the marriage. At the time of the birth of his son Alois, Christian Ludwig von Reissig was Obrist in royal Spanish service ( cavalry ).

He was buried in the family crypt in Szombathely.
