Christian Niemeyer (clergyman)

Johann Christian Ludwig Niemeyer (born November 25, 1772 in Weferlingen near Magdeburg , † March 23, 1857 in Dedeleben near Halberstadt ) was a German Protestant theologian , writer of children's and youth literature and a teacher . He was also known under the short form Christian Niemeyer and the pseudonym Tristan Rosenblüth.

Life

Study and calling

Johann Christian Ludwig Niemeyer completed his theology studies in Halle . After graduating, he was employed as a teacher at the university's pedagogy in 1798 , before he pursued his vocation as a preacher in North Dedeleben in 1803 .

Literary work

Children's and young people's literature

Johann Christian Ludwig Niemeyer was immortalized , for example, in the fourth volume of the handbook on children's and young people's literature of the 19th century (1998), which emphasizes his literary work as a writer in this genre. Niemeyer's works “New Winter Evenings for German Youth” (1815), “Heroes Book. A monument to the great deeds in the wars of liberation of 1808-1815. Dedicated to German patriotic friends and especially to the youth ”(1816) and“ Book for the youth ”(1832).

Johann Christian Ludwig Niemeyer achieved fame in particular through the "Book of Heroes" (1816). This work is a politically instructive narrative divided into annual sections, which is intended to function as a book of virtues .
