Christian Simon (born June 17, 1951 in Duisburg ) is a German television and radio presenter , media journalist and author.

Life

The trained advertising salesman Christian Simon began his media career 1974–1977 as a member of the editorial team and speaker at Radio Luxemburg , hired by Frank Elstner. He achieved nationwide fame as the moderator and text editor of the music program Rockpop , which was broadcast ten Saturday evenings per year by ZDF from 1978 to 1982 . During this time, Simon also wrote music columns, including for the TV magazine Bild + Funk. 1983 Simon presented the quiz show The Money is on the Street , initiated by Hans Rosenthal , on ZDF , which was discontinued after a single test broadcast. In 1984/85 he produced and hosted twelve episodes of the Christians Wanderbrettl program on Bavarian television .

In 1986 he produced the film “Neuland Suite” based on the concept album by Hans Hartz (director: Manfred Bockelmann , actors: Horst Frank , Hans Hartz, Udo Lindenberg , Dan McCafferty ). The film was broadcast by Bavarian TV on November 25, 1987 in the ARD evening program and received the producer award from Fuji Television Japan at the "International Music and Video Competition" 87 "in Tokyo as one of the best video productions worldwide in 1986.

In 1987/88 Simon was program director at Radio Ohr . In the second half of the 1980s he was involved in the conception and production of the show Do you understand fun? involved and appeared here in front of the camera alongside Kurt Felix . In 1982 he was seen as a presenter in the film Der Fan . In addition, he moderated from the 1970s to 1990s on various radio stations (including WDR , Radio Bremen , SWF , Radio Victoria , Welle Fidelitas and Deutschlandfunk ). In 1995, Simon founded Christian Simon Productions in Baden-Baden , with which he worked as an event manager and concert organizer. a. for Udo Jürgens Peter Maffay and many others.

From 2012 to 2020 he also worked as a columnist and author for the music magazine “Good Times” and for “Kult”. In 2012 he was an editor for the talk show “People of the Week” with Frank Elstner ( SWR television ). In 2014/15 Hitradio OHR broadcast the talk show “Good Times” with Christian Simon.

In 2016 Simon's first book was published by Verlag LangenMüller: Ich, Udo - Conversations and experiences from forty years of friendship with Udo Jürgens .

His second book Paul McCartney Hautnah - My Years with the Legend was published in March 2020. Christian Simon worked closely with Paul and Linda McCartney for 15 years. Likewise with McCartney's school "The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts".

Today Simon works as a media journalist and author. He lives in Baden-Baden with his wife Monica, who also accompanies his work as a photographer.
