Christian Tarr

Christian Tarr (born May 25, 1765 in Baltimore , Province of Maryland , †  February 24, 1833 in Washington , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1817 and 1821 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Christian Tarr received only a limited education. In 1794 he moved to Westmoreland County , Pennsylvania, where he worked in agriculture. He later also worked in the pottery in Fayette County . Politically, he joined the Democratic Republican Party . In the congressional election of 1816 Tarr was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 13th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Isaac Griffin on March 4, 1817 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1821 .

In 1821 and 1822 Tarr was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives ; from 1827 to 1829 he was road overseer on the state road between Cumberland (Maryland) and Wheeling in what is now West Virginia . He died on February 24, 1833 in the town of Washington, Fayette County.
