Christian Thiessen

Christian Thiessen (* 1966 in Lübeck ) is a German politician of the Pirate Party . He was chairman of the Pirate Party Schleswig-Holstein from July 12, 2014 to January 31, 2016 .

Life

Thiessen was born in Lübeck in 1966 , but grew up in Oldenburg in Holstein . He has two siblings. In Eutin he completed his training as a Telekom specialist. After some time in Munich and Elmshorn , he moved to Sylt in 1989 , where he has since been responsible for the operation of the submarine cables landing on Sylt. In his youth he was active in the local church community and in the Christian Association of Young People (YMCA). During his time in Munich and Elmshorn he was also active in the YMCA there.

Political commitment

Thiessen was elected as the new state chairman by a good seventy accredited pirates from all over Schleswig-Holstein at the state party conference in Henstedt-Ulzburg on July 12, 2014 . With 81.54 percent of the votes cast, Thiessen clearly prevailed over a competitor. The previous incumbent, Sven Stückelschweiger , did not run again after two terms in office.
