Christian Timotheus Seidel

Christian Timotheus Seidel , also Christoph Timotheus Seidel , (* 1731 ; † May 1, 1811 ) was a German architect and Prussian secret senior building officer.

career

Seidel is mentioned for the first time in 1753 as a surveyor. In 1766 he was proposed by the General Directorate for the post of surveyor, in 1769 he was a building inspector at the Kurmärkische Kammer and in 1770 he became a member of the newly founded Oberbaudepartement as a secret senior building officer .

In this office he was in charge of all royal buildings in Berlin and Potsdam. In 1777 he processed the cost estimates for the walling on the Warthe in Küstrin , checked the plans for the buildings on the Potsdamer Quarré and the post office in 1782, submitted a cost estimate for the repairs to the damage to Sanssouci Palace in 1784, and submitted an estimate for the construction of one in 1784 He set up military hospitals in Spandau and in 1785, on behalf of the king, revised the notices for the buildings in Berlin and Potsdam. He then carried out improvements to the Rhin and Dosse , in the Zauche district and the Golmschen Bruch near Potsdam, revised immediate buildings and made a notice for the construction of a massive lock in Spandau. In the course of the dissolution of the Oberbaudepartement, Seidel was retired in May 1804 because of his old age. He died in 1811 at the age of 80, leaving behind a wife and children.

As early as 1786 he resigned his post as building inspector of the Kurmärkische Kammer to his son Johann Friedrich Wilhelm. He was a conductor until 1782 and then until 1788 with the Oberbaudepartement, first as a trainee lawyer, became assessor in 1784 and building inspector in 1788. At the same time he was court and building advisor to the building commission in Berlin.
