Christian Traugott Fleischmann

Christian Traugott Fleischmann (born March 16, 1776 in Neustadt an der Orla , † January 6, 1813 in Leipzig ) was a German organist and flutist . From 1811 to 1813 he was Thomas organist in Leipzig.

Life

Fleischmann was born in Neustadt an der Orla in 1776 as the son of the organist and teacher Johann Gottlob Fleischmann. From 1791 he attended the St. Thomas School in Leipzig . In 1799 he enrolled at the University of Leipzig . From 1802 to 1813 he was 2nd flutist in the concert of the Leipzig Theater Orchestra ( Gewandhausorchester ). After he was also a substitute for the organist Adolf Heinrich Müller from 1802 , he worked from 1804 to 1811 as the holder of office at the St. Peter's Church in Leipzig . After that he was organist at the Thomaskirche until his death . One of his brothers, Johann Christoph Fleischmann , was the cathedral and city cantor in Meißen.
