Christian Wilhelm von Glück

Christian Wilhelm von Glück (born December 31, 1810 in Erlangen , † June 13, 1866 in Munich ) was a German librarian and Celtologist .

Life

Christian Wilhelm von Glück spent the first years of his life in Erlangen. His father, Christian Friedrich von Glück , gave him an understanding of scriptures and history. He has in Erlangen and Tuebingen studied, where a victim of the so-called out he demagogues persecution in Switzerland was forced to flee. During his studies in 1830 he became a member of the old Erlanger fraternity Germania and in 1832 a member of the fraternity Germania Tübingen .

He later moved to Munich , where he became court and state librarian. He died in 1866 of an intentional overdose of opium .

He became known through his research into Celtic culture .
