Christian Friedrich Glück , from 1827 by Glück , (born July 1, 1755 in Halle (Saale) , † January 20, 1831 in Erlangen ) was a German legal scholar. He is considered an important representative of the Usus modernus pandectarum .

life and work

Christian Friedrich Glück studied at the University of Halle from 1770 to 1776 , and received his doctorate on April 16, 1777. After seven years as a private lecturer in Halle, he decided to go to Erlangen University in 1784 and became the fifth professor of law there. At that time he lived in Friedrichstrasse. 35. The municipal music school is now located in this house, near Bohlenplatz. In his memory, a plaque is attached to the facade of the building with the inscription “This is where pandectist Prof. Dr. Christian Friedrich von Glück (1784-1831) “wears.

In 1785 he married Wilhelmine Elisabeth Geiger. The marriage resulted in two sons, Christian Carl von Glück (1791–1867) and Christian Wilhelm Glück (1810–1866), and a daughter. Christian Friedrich von Glück died on January 20, 1831 in Erlangen.

His main work is the detailed explanation of the Pandects (Erlangen 1790–1830, 34 vols.). The method of dealing with the Justinian late antique pandects ( Latin digests) is attributed to the late phase of the Usus modernus pandectarum .

In Erlangen, a street was named after Christian Friedrich von Glück in 1884: Glückstraße. In 1827 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown , with which the ennoblement was connected.
