Christian du Plessis
Christian du Plessis (born July 2, 1944 in Vryheid ) is a South African opera singer ( baritone ).
He made his debut in Johannesburg in 1967 as Yamadori in Giacomo Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly . From 1973 to 1981 he sang at the English National Opera London, and more often for the Opera Rara Society, for which he also made numerous recordings. He mainly focused on the bel canto repertory and made a name for himself in operas by Gaetano Donizetti and Giacomo Meyerbeer . He has also performed at Covent Garden Opera London, Teatre del Liceu Barcelona and Hong Kong.
In 1988 he ended his stage career.
