Christian von Brockdorff

Christian von Brockdorff (* around 1644; † 14 May 1710 ) was a royal Danish colonel and chief of the Oldenburg National Infantry Regiment.

Life

His parents were Colonel Detlef von Brockdorff (1600–1670) and his wife Öllegard Katharina, born von Rantzau (1625–1675).

Brockdorff became captain in the infantry regiment "Detlev Lütken" in 1676. From there he was transferred to the Queen's body regiment. In 1677 the regiment was at Landskrona , where he was captain of a company . On December 11, 1678, Brockdorff was still ill in Glücksburg , but on the 17th he received the appointment of Seconde Major. On April 12, 1679 was with his company in Helsingborg . In 1682 he was promoted to Premier Major. On September 28, 1685 he became lieutenant colonel and on May 14, 1701 colonel . During 1702 he became the chief of a battalion of the king who fought for the German Emperor in Italy during the War of the Spanish Succession . Brockdorff took part in the siege of Mantua and was able to distinguish himself in a storm on March 22, 1702, but was also injured. On March 24, 1703 he received his departure, as the regiment was disbanded. But on May 3, 1704 he was appointed chief of the Oldenburg National Infantry Regiment. On June 25, 1706 he also became interim commander of Oldenburg. He had to give up the post in 1709. He died on May 14, 1710.

He married Abel Hedwig von Plessen (* 1665) in 1687 . She was the daughter of Major Siegfried von Plessen from the Schulenburg family and his wife Hedwig, née von Brockdorff. The couple had several children including:
