Christiane Stang-Voss

Christiane Stang-Voss (born Christiane Voss ) (* 1938 in Friedrichshafen ) is a German biologist and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school in Ravensburg in 1957 , Voss studied biology, geography and physical education at the universities of Tübingen , Mainz and Freiburg i.Br. until 1966 . and in Frankfurt a. M.

Voss was also an active athlete and represented VfB Friedrichshafen . In 1957 she was second and 1958 third in the German championships over the 100-meter course . In both years, she also came second over the 200-meter course . She also took part in student world championships.

In 1966 received his doctorate Voss with her dissertation: "On the form of seeing the red wood ant (Formica rufa group)."

From 1967 to 1973, Voss was a research assistant at the Anatomical Institute of the University of Freiburg, where she completed her habilitation in 1973 with her work: "On the ultrastructure of the blood cells of invertebrates ". From 1973 to 1975 she was a private lecturer at the Anatomical Institute in Freiburg and then until 1977 she was a Scientific Adviser and Professor at the Anatomical Institute of RWTH Aachen University.

In 1977 Stang-Voss took up a professorship at the Institute for Experimental Morphology of the German Sport University Cologne (DSHS) and worked there in the connection of natural and sports science. Between 1985 and 1987 she was the dean of the Faculty of Science and Medicine. From May 1987 to May 1991, Stang-Voss was the rector of the sports university and thus one of the first women to hold a rector's office in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . During her term of office, among other things, the establishment of the institute for sports journalism as well as the introduction of the sports economics additional course fell.

In her research work, Voss dealt, among other things, with side effects of anabolic steroids, the influence of sport on the immune system and the performance of women. Together with Hans-Joachim Appell , she published the first edition of the book “Functional Anatomy: Fundamentals of Athletic Performance and Movement” in 1986.

In November 2000, Stang-Voss retired. In 2001 she was awarded the Silver Medal of the German Sport University Cologne .

Between 1987 and 1991 she was on the board of the German Academic Exchange Service and from 1991 to 1998 on the administrative board of Deutsche Welle .
