Location of Christiansheide in Schleswig-Holstein

Christiansheide ( Danish : Christianshede ) is a place in the municipality of Handewitt , which used to be called Hüllerupfeld (Danish: Hyllerupmark ).

location

The scattered settlement Christiansheide is located on the southwestern edge of the Handewitter municipality. The main town of Handewitt is about three kilometers northeast of Christiansheide. The city of Flensburg, also to the northeast, is about six kilometers from Christiansheide. In the immediate, northern neighborhood, at a distance of only 450 meters, there is a densely populated settlement area of Handewitt Colony . To the southeast, at a distance of 1.5 kilometers, is the village of Hüllerup .

history

In the 16th century there was a hoof on the "Hüllerupfeld" , which was called "Rommik". During the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) the hooves were devastated and the residents killed. In 1698 the no longer cultivated Hufe was distributed to the four Hufner Hüllerups by the authorities .

From 1761 King Friedrich V had the sparsely populated heather and moor areas on the Schleswigschen Gest colonized by people from Palatinate and Hesse . During this time, colonists were also settled in the Handewitt Colony area not far to the north and in Hüllerupfeld. The eighth colony on the Hüllerupfeld was named Christiansheide, apparently after the son of Friedrich V and thus the subsequent King Christian VII. The colonization of the areas proved to be difficult. The colonists led a hard and hard life full of privation.

Christiansheide with its houses and farms is shown on the map of the Prussian land survey around 1879 . The name of the place was still Hüllerupfeld on the map at that time, with the name Christiansheide in brackets. Later the name Christiansheide caught on. The street of the settlement was named Christiansheide throughout. In the course of the dissolution of the Flensburg-Land district in 1974, the previously independent community of Hüllerup, to which Christiansheide belonged, was incorporated into Handewitt together with the communities of Ellund, Gottrupel, Haurup and Timmersiek. On November 19, 2011 a memorial stone was unveiled near Christiansheide with the wording “1761. Christiansheide Colony. Handewitt municipality ” .
