Research and Teaching

Christine Jasch's main focus is the connection of ecological issues with business instruments, e.g. B. in environmental cost accounting and sustainability reporting. Via the Institute for Ecological Economic Research (IÖ) W, she carried out scientific work on the one hand in the basic area and on the other hand for practical application. Among other things, she creates guidelines for the implementation of corporate environmental management.

Her work focuses on the following areas:
environmental information and environmental controlling systems, environmental management systems and eco audits, environmental indicators and benchmarking, sustainability reports and assessments, ethical investment , international standardization in environmental management, emission avoidance and clean production, eco services, environmental taxes , environmental accounting and environmental cost accounting as well as material flow cost accounting.

Since 1993 she has been negotiating the ISO 14001 environmental management systems, ISO 14031 environmental performance assessment and ISO 14051 material flow cost accounting standards for the Ministry of the Environment as a delegate .

In 2000, through the sustainability committee of the Chamber of Public Accountants , which she heads, she founded the Austrian Sustainability Reporting Award (ASRA), which is awarded annually by the Chamber of Public Accountants with several cooperation partners for the best Austrian environmental and sustainability reports.

In 2001 she created a manual for environmental cost accounting for the United Nations, which was followed by an IFAC guideline. The concept of material flow accounting derived from the accounting information systems was further developed for UNIDO. In the UNIDO projects, material flow cost accounting is used in conjunction with the establishment of an environmental management system in order to be able to demonstrate the advantages of clean, integrated technologies.
