Christoph Bernhard Schlueter
Christoph Bernhard Schlueter (born March 27, 1801 in Warendorf , † February 4, 1884 in Münster ) was a German poet and philosopher .
Life
Christoph Bernhard Schlueter was born as the son of the town judge of Warendorf. At the age of eight, the boy exploded a bottle of lime and water, severely affecting his eyes and making him completely blind at the age of 27.
He studied philosophy and philology at the University of Göttingen, and later taught as a professor of philosophy at the Münster Academy. Schlüter's main work consists of works on the relationship between faith and theology in the Catholic tradition. He is considered the discoverer and one of the mentors of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff . He was also friends with the poet Luise Hensel , whose songs and letters he edited.
His grave is in the historic Hörsterfriedhof on Bohlweg in Münster.
