Christoph Brandt (theologian)

Christoph Brandt (born April 26, 1922 in Düderode ; † February 10, 2012 in Somerset West ) was a Protestant theologian and President of the Cape Church .

Life

After completing his theology studies, Brandt was ordained in Georgsmarienhütte on October 5, 1952 and appointed pastor in Marienwerder in the same year . In 1953 he switched to serving abroad as a pastor in South Africa . The Cape Church there was under the supervision of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Hanover until 1961 . In 1960 Brandt first returned to Germany and became a pastor in Sarstedt , and in 1968 in Hildesheim . In 1971 he was again appointed pastor in foreign service in South Africa and in 1977 he was appointed President of the Cape Church. He retired on July 1, 1985.

In 1948 he became a member of the Christian student union Göttingen Wingolf .
