Christoph Carl von Beulwitz (born January 6, 1827 in Trier ; † May 29, 1909 there ) was a German entrepreneur and politician .

education

Christoph Carl von Beulwitz, son of Alexander von Beulwitz , studied mining and metallurgy at the Polytechnic School in Karlsruhe from 1843 to 1846 . He became a member of the Karlsruhe fraternity in Teutonia in 1843/44 . He continued his education in Paris and Brussels .

Professional background

In 1850 he and his brother Alexander took over the management of their parents' family business Carl Gottlieb sel. Erben , which consisted of the Mariahütte estate and ironworks in Braunshausen (Nonnweiler) , the Hubertushütte in Bierfeld and extensive estates and forests. At the end of 1860 he gave up wrought iron production and switched to cast iron production .

Beulwitz was for many years on the supervisory board of the Friedrich Wilhelms-Hütte in Mülheim an der Ruhr and the Humboldt mechanical engineering institute in Kalk . Around 1865 he founded the Trierische Commité to achieve a Hochwaldbahn .

Beulwitz married Franziska Rautenstrauch (* October 25, 1833; † August 12, 1915) from Trier on September 22, 1853 and sister of Valentin Rautenstrauch . The couple had several children:

Honors

Beulwitz was awarded the Order of Merit of the Prussian Crown 4th Class on the commemorative ribbon Wilhelm I and the Knight's Cross 1st Class of the Grand Ducal Hessian Phillips Order .
