Christoph Eilard

Christoph Eilard (also: Eilardus, Eilardi ; * 1585 near Oldenburg ; † April 28, 1639 in Königsberg ) was a German poet and physicist.

Life

The son of a farmer was born in a village near Oldenburg. In May 1605 he began studying at the University of Rostock and from 1605 to 1608 he was a teacher in Lübeck . In 1610 he continued his studies at the University of Königsberg , where on October 1, 1611 he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophical sciences. Then he was a teacher at the local pedagogy. In 1618 he became professor of poetry at the Königsberg University and in 1638 he also took over the professorship of physics. In his work as a professor at the Königsberg University, he also took part in its organizational tasks and was rector of the Alma Mater in the summer semester of 1634 .
