Christoph Holm from Egidy

Christoph Holm von Egidy (born June 3, 1803 in Ottersitz , † June 11, 1882 in Dresden ) was a German lawyer , manor owner and politician .

Life

He came from the noble Egidy family and was the son of the Saxon lieutenant Hans von Egidy (1772–1843) on Ottersitz and Henriette Wilhelmine nee. von Schleinitz (1774-1818). Christoph Holm von Egidy attended the Roßleben monastery school from 1817 to 1822 and then studied law and camera studies at the University of Leipzig until Easter 1825 . After completing his studies, he took up his first activities as an assessor in the Dresden Justice Office and, from December 1826, in the Finance College. In 1830 he obtained the Assessur in the country's economy, manufacturing and Kommerziendeputation, but was already in the following year as an assistant to the local office captain after Rochlitz transported. From 1833 to 1834 he administered this administration as administrator . On April 25, 1835, he was appointed supernumerar government councilor in the Zwickau district directorate .

As the owner of the Naunhof manor , he was elected by the manor owners of the Meißner Kreis to the second chamber of the Saxon state parliament, to which he belonged in 1836/37 . When he took office as governor of Döbeln with effect from October 1, 1838 , he resigned from his state parliament mandate. At Easter 1851 he was transferred to Meißen as governor, an office which he held until he retired in 1874. From 1850 Egidy belonged as a representative of the manor owners of the Meißner Kreis to the I. Landtag Chamber. From 1854 to 1869/70 he held the post of 1st Secretary of the Chamber. He held his state parliament mandate up to and including the state parliament in 1875/76 . He was one of only five aristocratic members of the First Chamber of Parliament who voted for the abolition of patrimonial jurisdiction in Saxony in 1854 .

After his Naunhof Palace burned down in 1864, Egidy had it rebuilt in 1865.

family

Christoph Holm von Egidy was married to Henriette Caroline Friederike von Brietzke. Her eldest son, Christoph Holm, died in Meißen in 1858 as a candidate for the mining industry . The marriage of their second oldest son Horst von Egidy (1835-1887) with Marie Olga von Diepow remained childless.
