Candelaria is located 60 km south of Barranquilla near the Colombian Caribbean coast at an altitude of 8 m above sea level. NN . The annual average temperature is 32 ° C. Candelaria borders Sabanalarga to the north, Campo de la Cruz to the south, Ponedera to the east and Manatí to the west .

history
Candelaria was founded in 1681 by the brothers Domingo and Manuel Caraballo who were cattle breeders. The first name of the place was Corral de Piedra and later Tasajera . Candelaria got its current name around 1800 after a Spanish monk brought an image of the Virgin of Candelaria to the town.
