Repelon is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Atlántico in Colombia .

geography

Repelón is located in the Sur sub-region in Atlántico at an altitude of 9 m above sea level. NN , 86 km from Barranquilla and has an average annual temperature of 29 ° C. A large part of the Guájaro Reservoir is located in the territory of the municipality of Repelón . The municipality borders on Luruaco to the north, Soplaviento , San Estanislao and San Cristóbal in the Department of Bolívar to the south, Sabanalarga and Manatí to the east and Villanueva and Santa Catalina in Bolívar to the west .

history

The settlement of today's Repelón began from around 1650, when the nearby town of San Benito de las Palomas was hit by floods. The old place ceased to exist when the Guájaro Reservoir was created in 1967 .
