Christoph Müller (Manager)

Christoph Romanus Müller (born December 17, 1961 in Wuppertal ) is a German manager . From spring 2015 to September 2016 he was CEO of Malaysia Airlines .

Life

Müller initially trained as an officer in the logistics force with the Bundeswehr (rank: lieutenant) and studied at the University of Cologne , graduating in 1988 with a degree in business administration . He then completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School until 1999.

Müller began his professional career in 1989 as an analyst at Lufthansa . This was followed by positions as Finance Director at Airbus and Finance Controller at Daimler Benz Aerospace . In 1994 he returned to Lufthansa as Vice President Controlling. He then worked for Philippine Airlines for some time, then became a board member of Swissair and at the same time head of the Belgian Sabena . After the end of Swissair and the bankruptcy of Sabena, he moved to the DHL logistics group in Brussels as Vice President in 2002 , and in 2004 he was promoted to the board of the parent company Deutsche Post AG . In 2006 he moved to Hapag-Lloyd as managing director with responsibility for the flight division and to the management of the tour operator subsidiary TUI . From June 2007 to May 2009 he was Executive Director of TUI Travel plc. From 2009 to February 2015 he was Executive Director (CEO) of the Irish airline Aer Lingus . On December 5, 2014, the Malaysian sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional , majority owner of Malaysia Airlines, appointed him CEO of the airline with effect from spring 2015, and resigned in September 2016.
