Christoph Rehage

Christoph Rehage (born November 9, 1981 in Hanover ) is a German author with Hungarian roots. He achieved great fame with the Internet video The Longest Way , which he shot about his hike from Beijing to Urumchi .

Life

Rehage grew up in Bad Nenndorf and has two siblings. He spent a year of his education in high school in Wichita , Kansas. After working in Paris, he walked back home from Paris.

He studied Sinology at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and Cinematography at the Beijing Film School . There he resolved to walk back from Beijing to Germany; but he had to interrupt the journey after 4646 km. He wrote about this hike and his experiences in the book The Longest Way: 4646 kilometers on foot through China and created an illustrated book about it: China on foot: The Longest Way .

He created the internet video The Longest Way for his hike . The video has won multiple awards and was ranked 8th in the Top 10 Viral Videos 2009 by Time Magazine .
