politics

From May 1989 Schulze worked in free student groups at the Humboldt University in Berlin, FB Charité, and in October 1989 he co-founded a “Citizens' Initiative for Democracy” in Zossen. From November 1989 he was a member first of the SDP and then the SPD. From 1990 to 1992 he was district manager of the SPD, district association Zossen, from 1992 to 2010 he was district chairman of the SPD Teltow-Fläming and from 1994 to 2000 he was also a member of the state board of the SPD Brandenburg .

Since 1993 he has been a member of the Teltow-Fläming district council. There he was chairman of the SPD district parliamentary group from 2003 to 2004 and from 2008 to 2010. On June 28, 2010 he was elected chairman of the Teltow-Fläming district council. From 2003 to 2008 he was a member of the Zossen city council .

From October 1990 to September 2019, Christoph Schulze was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament . For his group he was a member of the Petitions Committee from 1990 to 1994 and chairman of the Parliamentary Control Commission from 1994 to 2004. From 1990 to 2004 and from 2009 to February 2013 he was a member of the Committee on Home Affairs, of which he was chairman from 1999 to 2004. From 2004 to 2009 he was Parliamentary Managing Director of the SPD state parliamentary group and a member of the state parliament presidium. Between 2000 and 2011 he was part of four other short-term committees.

Schulze won the direct mandate again in the state elections in September 2009 with 26.9% of the first votes in the constituency of Teltow-Fläming III . On December 16, 2011 Schulze resigned from the SPD parliamentary group, justifying this step with the way in which the parliamentary group dealt with the popular initiative for an extended night flight ban at Schönefeld Airport.

On May 21, 2013 Schulze declared that he wanted to join the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the Brandenburg state parliament. State Parliament President Gunter Fritsch (SPD) argued that membership in the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party was necessary for a change of faction, and then Schulze prohibited the change of faction. An expert opinion prepared on behalf of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group contradicted this view. Christoph Schulze then resigned his membership in the SPD and joined the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen.

In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2014 , Christoph Schulze ran as the top candidate for the political association Brandenburg United Citizens' Movements / Free Voters (BVB / FW). Schulze defended his direct mandate with 27 percent of the vote. Thanks to the basic mandate clause , the free voters moved into the state parliament of Brandenburg along with the directly elected Schulze via the state list with the representatives Iris Schülzke and Péter Vida .

After lengthy disputes with the BVB / FW chairman Vida, among other things about the non-payment of his promised contributions and Schulze accused of behavior that was harmful to the association, the state parliament group dissolved at the end of September 2017. Schulze resigned from the party like his colleague Schülzke.
