Christoph Stalder

Christoph Stalder (born June 25, 1944 in Fraubrunnen ; † February 12, 2012 ; entitled to live in Lützelflüh ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician ( FDP The Liberals ) from the city of Bern .

Life

Christoph Stalder grew up in Fraubrunnen. He studied law at the University of Bern , obtained an advocate license and worked in Washington, DC , as a lawyer, in the Bern administration and as a court secretary at the federal court. In 1976 he obtained his doctorate for a thesis on freedom of expression in relation to other fundamental rights. From 1977 he lived in Bern and worked for Swiss Mobiliar , most recently as a member of the board of directors and responsible for public affairs . Christoph Stalder was married to Anna Marie Stalder-Neftel, with whom he had two daughters.

In 1994 Stalder was elected as a representative of the FDP in the Bern city parliament, the city council, and was its president in 2001. There he campaigned for the merger of the city with its agglomeration communities and was in charge of the “New Berne” association. In 2002 he moved to the cantonal parliament, the Grand Council , to which he belonged until his death and which he presided over in 2007/08. There he was one of the political heavyweights and also pursued the concern of community mergers .

Personally and with “Mobiliar”, Stalder campaigned for Bernese culture. He was a member of the governing bodies of the Bern City Theater , the Paul Klee Center , the Bern Historical Museum and other organizations in the Bernese economy and society.

In February 2012, Christoph Stalder died at the age of 67 as a result of a heart attack .
