Christoph Freiherr von Lamberg zu Ortenegg and Ottenstein († March 26, 1579 in Salzburg ) was Christoph IV. Bishop of Seckau .

Life

Christoph von Lamberg came from the Carniolan noble family Lamberg , which produced numerous canons and bishops. He studied in Vienna, Ingolstadt and Padua. He became canon in Padua early on. Shortly before his death, Bishop Christoph Rauber from Seckau declared himself ready to accept him as coadjutor in his diocese. On November 29, 1536 he was ordained bishop by the Archbishop of Salzburg, with the decree that Lamberg, after reaching canonical age, had priority as successor to the Seckau bishopric. In 1540 Lamberg was awarded the parish Seekirchen.

After the death of Georg von Tessing , Lamberg was appointed Bishop of Seckau by the Salzburg administrator Ernst von Bayern , but he was probably never ordained diocesan bishop.

Lamberg did nothing against the advancing Protestantism and otherwise hardly emerged politically or spiritually. In 1546 he renounced his bishopric and in 1549 became coadjutor of the Salzburg cathedral dean. In 1555 he took part in the Reichstag in Augsburg and two years later became coadjutor of the cathedral provost, and in 1560 himself cathedral provost. He died in 1579.
