Christophe Borgel (born September 3, 1963 in Poitiers ) is a French politician . He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2012 .

Borgel, who spent part of his childhood in Algeria , studied biology in Lyon . As such, he was a member of the UNEF-ID , of which he was elected chairman in 1988. He was also a co-founder of the Afev student association . Borgel, who joined the Parti socialiste in 1986 , was elected deputy mayor of the 19th arrondissement of Paris in 1995 . From 1998 to 2002 he worked as a consultant in the national Ministry of Education. Afterwards he was active again in local politics with the election as deputy mayor of Villepinte . In 2010 he also joined the Regional Council of the Île-de-France region . In the 2012 parliamentary elections , he ran in the ninth constituency of the Haute-Garonne department . He was able to prevail in the second round with 64.7% of the vote and entered the National Assembly.
