Alexander Berger (born September 27, 1988 in Aichkirchen ) is an Austrian national volleyball player .

Berger came to volleyball in the hall via beach volleyball. During his time at Supervolley Wels , he tried both sports. After Peter Gartmayer resigned in 2008, Berger was in discussion as a new beach partner for Clemens Doppler . However, Matthias Mellitzer was awarded the contract . In 2009, the outside attacker switched to the reigning Austrian champions Hypo Tirol volleyball team Innsbruck . Due to injuries and strong competition in his position, however, Berger only made the breakthrough in the 2011/12 season. In the national team, he narrowly missed the leap into the final squad for the home European championships 2011 in Austria and the Czech Republic , but is now a regular and currently team captain of the Austrian national volleyball team. In early 2013 he suffered from a metacarpal fracture. In 2014 Berger was again Austrian champion and then moved to France to Nantes Rezé Métropole Volley. Alexander Berger has been playing in the Italian Serie A since 2015 , initially with Pallavolo Padua and since 2016 with league rivals Sir Safety Perugia .

Alexander has two brothers who are also involved in volleyball, the older Christoph and the younger Markus. Alex has been married to the Austrian swimmer Mirna Jukić since 2015 .
