The Central European Volleyball League (English Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association ), MEVZA for short , is a cross-border volleyball league of the countries Austria , Hungary , Slovakia , Slovenia , Croatia (sometimes also the Czech Republic ).
The MEVZA was founded in 2005 and is an attempt to revive the former Interliga . Each of the five participating countries may provide two teams, but they must be represented in the European Cup. This is to create a league at the highest possible level in order to challenge the respective top teams more than would be possible in their national leagues.
There is a round trip round before the finals take place in play-off mode. In the domestic leagues, the teams represented in the MEVZA are allowed to skip the first rounds and go straight to the play-offs.
