Christophe Cheval (born February 25, 1971 in Somain ) is a former French sprinter who had specialized in the 100 and 200 meter run and the sprint relay .

Sporting successes

Cheval celebrated his greatest sporting success at the 1998 European Athletics Championships in Budapest , when he won the silver medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with Thierry Lubin , Frédéric Krantz and Needy Guims . In the time of 38.87 s, the French quartet only had to admit defeat to the team from the United Kingdom (38.52 s). Cheval also took part in the individual competition over 200 m and took sixth place here.

At the European Indoor Championships in Ghent in 2000 he was fourth over 200 m.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he finished fifth in the sprint relay, together with Krantz, Guims and David Patros , in 38.49 s behind the teams from the United States, Brazil, Cubas and Jamaica. He was also nominated for the French selection of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta .

Cheval is a seven-time French champion in the 200-meter run.

In 2012 he won over 200 m at the Senior World Championships in the M40 age group.

Doping ban

2001 Nandrolone was detected at Cheval in a urine sample taken on the occasion of the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton and he was banned for two years for doping .
