Christophe Forey

Christophe Forey (born 1960 ) is a French lighting designer who has worked closely with directors Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier since 1996 .

Christophe Forey designed the lighting for numerous dance, opera and drama productions.

Cooperation with Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier

Forey worked on a number of opera productions with the two directors - among others at the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff ( Carmen , Fidelio , Orfeo ed Euridice , Leonore , La traviata , Mazeppa ), at the Grand Théâtre de Genève ( Hamlet , Der Rosenkavalier , Pelléas et Mélisande , Der Ring des Nibelungen , Don Carlos ), at the Royal Opera House in London ( La Cenerentola , Madama Butterfly , Il turco in Italia , Il barbiere di Siviglia , Hansel and Gretel , Maria Stuarda ), at the Zurich Opera House ( Halevys Clari , Dalbavies Gesualdo , Rossini's Mosè in Egitto and Le comte Ory ), at the Salzburg Festival ( Giulio Cesare in Egitto and Norma ), as well as at the Bregenz Festival ( Detlev Glanerts Solaris ) and at the Vienna State Opera ( Die Zauberflöte ).

He was also responsible for the lighting in Leiser / Caurier productions that could be seen in several cities - such as The Nose , The Magic Flute , The Love of the Three Oranges , Lucia di Lammermoor and Eugen Onegin . For example, Rossini's Otello , produced at the Zurich Opera House , was also shown at the Vlaamse Opera , at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival and at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris .

Collaboration with Lucinda Childs

Forey has also been working with the US choreographer and director Lucinda Childs since 2002 , starting with Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice at the Scottish Opera , and finally two Stravinsky operas at the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg ( Le rossignol and Oedipus Rex ) and two dance productions at the same house (with music by Béla Bartók and Max Richter ).

Other directors for whom Christophe Forey designed the light are Günter Krämer ( Ariadne auf Naxos ), Silviu Pucărete ( Parsifal at the Scottish Opera), Viesturs Kairišs ( Götterdämmerung in Riga), and the French theater directors Bruno Boëglin ( Bernard-Marie Koltès ' Roberto Zucco in Paris and on tour) and Jean-Marc Bourg (including Être human by Emmanuel Darley , Cendres sur les mains by Laurent Gaudé , Une phrase pour ma mère by Christian Prigent ).

For director Cédric Dorier , Forey took on the lighting design of Koffi Kwahulé's prison drama Misterioso-119 at the Théâtre de Vidy in Lausanne in March 2014 , which was also shown the following month at the Grutli Théâtre in Genève.

In 2018 he was responsible for the lighting design for the opera Du Chœur à l'ouvrage at the Festival International d'Art Lyrique d'Aix-en Provence .
