Christopher Marc Schlick (* July 1, 1967 in Berlin ; † October 3, 2016 in Aachen ) was director of the "Chair and Institute for Ergonomics ( IAW)" at RWTH Aachen University and deputy director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing and Ergonomics ( FKIE).

Career

After graduating from high school, Schlick completed a simultaneous degree in electrical engineering , specializing in communications engineering / automation technology, and economics at the Technical University of Berlin . After passing his diploma, he worked as a project engineer in industry in 1992 and 1993.

In 1994 he started his career as a research assistant at the Institute for Ergonomics at RWTH Aachen University with Professor Dr. Holger Luczak . Among other things, he worked on human-machine interfaces in autonomous production cells and on computer-aided teamwork in simultaneous engineering . In 1997 he was appointed research group leader and in 1998 senior engineer at the same institute. In 1999 he received his doctorate from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University as Dr.-Ing. , where he completed his habilitation in 2004 .

From 2000 to 2004 he was head of the ergonomics and management systems department at the Research Association for Applied Natural Sciences . Since December 1st, 2004 he has been director of the Institute for Ergonomics at RWTH Aachen University. Since December 1, 2009, he has been a member of the management team of the Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing and Ergonomics (FKIE).

He was scientifically active as a reviewer and consultant in international bodies.

For his dissertation he was awarded the Borchers plaque from RWTH Aachen University. His habilitation thesis was awarded the Gertraude Holste Prize 2004.

Schlick died on October 3, 2016 after a short, serious illness and was buried in the Aachen forest cemetery.
