Christopher Sekura (born October 31, 1975 in Taber , Alberta , Canada ) is a former Australian ice hockey player and current coach, who spent his entire career with the Sydney Ice Dogs in the Australian Ice Hockey League , where he was assistant coach in 2016.

Career

Christopher Sekura, who was born in Canada, has spent his entire career with the Sydney Ice Dogs , for whom he made his debut in the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2003 and for which he played non-stop except for the 2012 season when he was off for a year. With the Ice Dogs he won the Goodall Cup , the Australian national championship , in 2004 and 2013 . In 2015 he ended his active career at the age of almost 40. He then became an assistant trainer for the Ice Dogs.

International

For the Australian national team , Sekura was in his country's squad for the first time at the World Championships in Division II in 2004 , when he was the best goal setter of the tournament with nine assists. Also in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 and 2008 , when he was the third best scorer of the tournament after his compatriots Greg Oddy and Lliam Webster and also the second best preparer behind Oddy together with the Icelander Emil Alengård , he represented his colors in Division II. In 2008 he reached with the "Aussies" by winning the home tournament in Newcastle the first promotion to Division I. There Sekura was not used and so he played after the Australians' immediate relegation in 2010 and 2011 in Division II. After 2011 at another home tournament , this time in Melbourne , the rise again succeeded, he ended his international career.
