Christopher Sellier (born February 24, 1986 in Arima ) is a former cyclist from Trinidad and Tobago .

Life

Christopher Sellier started cycling at the age of 16. As a junior he was the first rider in the history of his country to win the national championship in the sprint as well as in the 1000-meter time trial in three consecutive years (2002-2004) . As an elite rider, he was national sprint champion in 2005 and 2007 to 2010 and time trial in 2005 and 2010. In total, he was national champion in various disciplines 13 times.

In 2008 Sellier became the Pan-American Keirin Champion. In 2010 he won the gold medal in the time trial at the Pan American Championships and set a new Pan American record with 1: 00.995 min. This made him the first cyclist from Trinidad and Tobago to set such a record. In addition, Christopher Sellier won the bronze medal in the team sprint , together with Njisane Phillip and Azikiwe Kellar .

From 2007 to 2010 Sellier worked with the German trainer Reneé Schmidt from Cottbus . He is a son of former cyclist Anthony Sellier . In November 2012, he announced that he would end his cycling career. In order to be among the best in the world and to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he has to train abroad, but there is no financial support.
