Reneé Schmidt (born September 8, 1967 in Salzwedel ) is a German cycling trainer.

In the mid-1980s, Reneé Schmidt ended his own career as a road racing driver. After his military service in the National People's Army , he trained at the Reichsbahn repair shop in Cottbus .

After the fall of the Wall , Schmidt worked as a bicycle mechanic . As such, he worked in the workshop of the RSC Cottbus , later he looked after the material for the Agro-Adler Brandenburg team and was the sports director there . In 1996 he took over his first group as coach, which included Maximilian Levy , who won five junior world titles under his aegis, and Keirin world champion Christin Muche . In 2007 he switched to the World Cycling Center in Switzerland as a trainer and from 2010 trained the national team of the United Emirates .

Reneé Schmidt has been working as a trainer at the Brandenburg Olympic Training Center in Cottbus since 2012 and has been looking after the paracyclers of the Brandenburg Prevention and Rehabilitation Sports Association (BPRSV) since 2015 . Among the athletes he works with are Jana Majunke , who won bronze at the Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro , and two-time world champion Kerstin Brachtendorf . In 2019 Schmidt's protégés, including Maike Hausberger and Maximilian Jäger , Angelika Dreock-Käser and Pierre Senska , won a total of ten medals at world championships.

Honors

In 2017, Reneé Schmidt was named Trainer of the Year by Brandenburg and the German Olympic Society with the achievement plaque.
