Jana Majunke (born August 21, 1990 in Cottbus ) is a German paracycler in class T2 (tricycle).

Athletic career

Jana Majunke was born with spastic paralysis . She did her Abitur at the Lausitzer Sportschule Cottbus and then trained as a sports specialist.

In 2009 Majunke became double world champion in individual time trials and in road races , and the following year she was able to repeat this success. Since then she has repeatedly stood on the podium at road world championships. By 2013 she was also four times German champion; In 2010 and 2013 she ended the season first in the UCI world ranking.

In 2016 Jana Majunke was nominated for participation in the Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro and won the bronze medal in the road race. The following year she won the silver medal in the road race and bronze in the one-time trial at the road world championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

Honors

On November 1, 2016, the Federal President awarded her the Silver Laurel Leaf .
