The church

The Evangelical Lutheran Christ Church is located in the Rosa community in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .

history

The small massive hall church has a retracted choir and parts of the building indicate different construction times. The oldest parts are the tower and the chancel . Both components are said to be from the 16th century. We know that there was an even older bower near the church .

To the church itself

The main room is in its shape from the 16th century. The tower standing on the unusual west side is striking. This unusual position means that the tower has no resemblance to the masonry of the nave . Therefore, one can conclude that the tower once used as dungeon must have been related to the bower.

The chancel on the east side is said to have originally been a chapel . Pointed arched windows indicate this. The main room of the church is a rectangle with a wooden ceiling and two-story galleries . The font is from the 16th century.

In 1975 a new organ was installed by the workshop of Rudolf Böhm from Gotha . It has 4 registers with a manual and a dependent pedal .

After the turn

After the fall of the Wall , the church was extensively renovated in 1990. The church has special characteristics through the altar windows created in 2000.
